Now offered in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the District of Columbia Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) Program is a system of materials and consistent instruction across the region, creating a community of certified professionals to be better stormwater partners and environmental stewards. Since the program began in 2016, CBLP has certified 1,389 Level 1 professionals, and 149 Level 2 advanced design and installation professionals. To find a certified professional, explore our searchable directory. We currently offer classes in DC, DE, MD, PA, and VA. The certification will eventually be available across the Bay Watershed. Level 1 is taught each year in a winter session and a summer session. Level 2 is typically held twice each year. Both programs have been adapted to hybrid online + field trainings while COVID restrictions are in place. GET CERTIFIED What is the Certification? The Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) Certification is a new, voluntary credential system for professionals who design, install, and maintain sustainable landscapes. The credential training and examination are based on a core set of standards in sustainable landscaping emphasizing stormwater best management practices and conservation landscaping with native plants to benefit the environment. CBLP is administered by the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council. Why You Need it Across the six states and District of Columbia in Bay watersheds, local governments, non-governmental organizations and neighborhoods are asking land owners and landscapers to increase the use of these small, residential-scale practices for a healthier Chesapeake Bay. Gaining the CBLP credential will help you connect with potential employers, and ultimately ensure that these practices function properly, in order to meet runoff, sediment and nutrient reduction goals.
